Settling In

My morning view

We moved into our new place! Yay! My 2 favorite things: 1. For me, the view is fantastic! I love sitting with my coffee in the morning and seeing the sun come over the mountains. 2. I enjoy living in a building with French charm; high ceilings, French doors, ornate moldings, and parquet floors. Interestingly, I feel more linked to the outdoors due to the temperature and airflow in these older buildings. Definitely not the hermetically sealed home that I'm used too! The people in the building have been soo nice and helpful. We've already been invited to get together for drinks with 2 couples! Also, there's a WhatsApp group where we've been able to quickly get answers to questions.

Since John has come down with a cold, I've been wandering about on my own getting familiar with the area (pics below). I also attended a gathering sponsored by the agency that guided our rental property search (specifically for North Americans moving to France). It was fun to meet new people in the area doing the same thing we are. The speaker was Dave Wollert, a screen writer and comedian who retired and moved to Nice France with his wife. I really enjoyed the book he wrote and recommend it. This Way Out! is an 87 page fast-paced and very funny guide for Americans considering a life abroad.
