Show up in person

We’ve had a lot of difficulty getting our French phone numbers due to a number of reasons. We took all the paperwork/progress over to the Orange store yesterday. It had them even stumped for a bit! Whenever we need to have a detailed conversation in French, I feel like a deer caught in headlight. Complete stage fright. A very different ball game from the little conversations you have in the grocery store or restaurant. John is a trooper though. When I freeze up, he just jumps in and is not afraid of making mistakes. The folks at Orange ended up working things out; and voila, we have our French phone numbers!

As of this morning no one had responded to our email about the “inondation” in our dining room. (Such a cool French word!). On the advice of the our rental agent, we went to the property management company in person. Yes, another technical conversation in French. John rocks and I helped out a bit. She had been working on setting up someone to come out and described the process and repair. Not having a French phone number yet had been part of the problem. But we felt comfortable and confident the wheels were rolling the right direction. As we’ve heard here, things move slower but they do get done. Feeling better about things today!
